Our community continues to grieve following yesterday's tragic accident. We remain heartbroken by the loss of a young girl and continue to keep those still in hospital, along with all affected families, in our thoughts and prayers.

We also want to extend our deepest gratitude to the first responders, paramedics, police officers, and hospital staff who responded with such professionalism and compassion during this crisis. Their dedication during the most difficult circumstances does not go unnoticed, and they too remain in our thoughts as they process this tragedy.

An investigation into this accident is underway. In time, more details about the circumstances will become clear. This heartbreaking incident serves as a stark reminder of life's fragility and the critical importance of road safety in our community.

Road safety has been a significant concern throughout Ward 11 and across Hamilton. We must all commit to following basic safety rules: respect speed limits, avoid passing in no-passing zones marked by double lines, and exercise extra caution on our rural roads where conditions can change quickly.

As a community, we must renew our commitment to road safety. Every time we get behind the wheel, we have a responsibility to protect ourselves and every member of our community sharing the road.

If anyone continues to need support during this difficult time, my office remains available to help.
